Great Activities To Do On The Water

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

As soon as the temperatures rise to over 20 degrees, the Berliners are already plunging into real adventures – and many of them have to do with jumping into the cool water. No wonder, because with the enormous number of lakes and waterways in and around our beloved city, the way to refreshment is never particularly long. But how about a little exercise? We regularly see one or the other canoe bobbing on the Landwehr Canal. Where do they all come from? The answer is simple – along with many other activities that you can experience on our waters, we reveal them to you in this list!

Great Activities To Do On The Water

Sail across the Spree on a raft from Floß & los and have a barbecue

Berlin’s waterways can also be explored comfortably on rafts. Floß & los also offers professionally built and equipped rafts for larger households and families. If you feel like it, you can get a camping toilet, blankets, disposable crockery and grill for a little extra money and drift towards the sunset while grilling or spend the night on the floating base. Events such as the floating reading stage are also normally on offer.

Kick-off: Locations For Public Viewing At The EM 2021

Work off power with wakeboarding and water skiing

If you like to strap on your snowboard or skis under your feet in winter and have not yet been on a wakeboard, you should head to Großbeeren as quickly as possible and do a few laps. It’s a lot of fun, really exhausting and everyone from beginners to advanced will get their money’s worth here. You can either take courses or drive freely over kickers, boxes and slides. Depending on the current Corona guidelines, you can usually rent a grill station on site and let the evening fade away comfortably.

Rent a canoe and enjoy the sun on the island of youth

The Insel der Jugend can be reached via a bridge from Treptower Park. Here you can rent paddle boats in summer or relax in the restaurant on the island. The association kulturALARM e.V. also organizes regular cultural events in the bridge house and on the surrounding area.

Kayak tour through Kreuzkölln

The outdoor season on the Kreuzberg bank of the Landwehr Canal is a highlight every year. On warm evenings, there is nothing better than sitting here by the water, drinking a beer, feeding the swans and listening to the guitar play from the other bank. If that’s not enough for you, you can jump into the kayak and paddle down the canal on a 2-hour tour into the sunset. The starting point for the little trip is the urban harbor.

Take the dinghy over the Landwehr Canal

Why should you only explore Berlin in the countryside when Berlin even has more bridges than Venice (yes, Hamburg has even more, we know) and of course correspondingly many waterways on which we can always (re) explore the city. We have a slightly cheaper alternative up our sleeve for those who do not have the necessary change to rent a boat: take a rubber dinghy over the Landwehr Canal. He has a lot of possibilities to slide into the water with the rubber dinghy. Just grab your loved ones, snacks and drinks, maybe a book or music – and off you go!

Sweat and swim: hop straight from the sauna raft into the Havel

There is a new highlight on the Havel that has captured our cold, wintry hearts: the sauna raft. The raft is made entirely of wood and is even heated with a wood stove, which positively affects the aroma and pleasant heat when using the sauna. The sauna itself has space for four people, and eight people are allowed on the entire raft. As if such a sauna raft wasn’t ingenious enough, you can look out over two windows from the sauna while the raft is either chugging in front of you with a helmsman or anchored.

Water skiing and wakeboarding in Velten

In fact, you don’t have to travel to tropical sandy beaches to go water skiing or wakeboarding again. That is also possible in Wet’n’Wild in Velten in the north of Berlin. Beginners simply take a course.

Pedal boating on the Plötzensee

Called “Plautzensee” in our vernacular, you can stretch out into the sun on a pedal boat on the lake, which is located directly opposite the Rehberge Park, and watch the goings-on in the lido, when it hopefully reopens soon. The day can be ended with a beer at the pedal boat rental and a beautiful sunset.

Stand-up paddling on the Wannsee

Stand-up paddling is perfect for everyone who doesn’t just want to lie around lazily on the beach in summer, but prefer to do sports. At Stand Up Wannsee you can not only paddle in the classic standing position on the paddleboards, but – depending on the offer – also take part in yoga and fitness courses with the board. If you want to cool off directly in the lake after the cobra, the warrior and the cat, the stand-up paddling yoga course is the right choice.

Rent a wooden raft and sail across Lake Templin

Have you always wanted to feel like Huckleberry Finn and not only cruise on a wooden raft, but also – very close to nature – sleep on it? You can do that in Potsdam, for example, on the beautiful Templiner See and the adjacent lake landscape. The boat rental company Huckleberrys Tour offers rafts for day trips and for trips of up to seven nights. A dry toilet, kerosene lamps, gas cooker, cooking and eating utensils for four people, camping heating and LED driving lights can also be booked for this.

Canoeing in the Spreewald

The Spreewald feels a bit like the German floodplain forest on the most beautiful days. So canoeing is pretty idyllic here; Deceleration par excellence. Borrow a boat at one of the numerous rental stations and sail in front of you all day. Simply fantastic!

Kick-off: Locations For Public Viewing At The EM 2021

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

Time again for something to turn: The 2020 European Football Championship will be played with a year delay. The beer gardens are open again just in time for the tournament and some have armed themselves with large screens and canvases to make the soccer fans among you happy. Reason enough for us to cheer.

Kick-off: Locations For Public Viewing At The EM 2021

The fan mile at the Brandenburg Gate will not exist, but these 11 locations offer both a seat for you and your friends as well as an uninterrupted supply of beer (also interesting for football grouches). Sounds almost like a summer fairy tale, doesn’t it?

Favorite Places Of The Editors That You Can Visit Again Now

11 Friends of the EM quarters in the Astra

The best football magazine in the world is opening its quarters again in the beer garden of the Astra Kulturhaus. There are not only fixed seats here, but also a grandstand from which you have a great view of the screen. You can watch all games here for free. Admission is one hour before the start of the first game of the day. Please pay attention to the hygiene concept and have fun!

Good vibes and craft beer in the BRLO Brwhouse

In summer you can have a toast in the nice beer garden at Gleisdreieckpark or relax in one of the sun loungers in the sand. In terms of atmosphere and presentation, the BRLO Brwhouse could also be located anywhere in Brooklyn, Copenhagen or London. The perfect place for a soccer party with friends!

Bavarian cuisine in the Prater

In the Prater , a year-round restaurant and in summer also a large beer garden, Berlin cuisine is served, along with Bavarian classics such as white sausages, schnitzel, delicious asparagus and a fat, fat goose at Christmas time. At the top of the “should-you-have-to-eat” list is also the mustard celebration with squashed potatoes – this is a culinary journey back in time. A lot of wood and indirect light create a warm atmosphere in the dining room. Despite the simplicity and spaciousness of the room, it does not seem cold. On warm summer evenings, when you sit outside in the beer garden or on the terrace, the fairy lights and lanterns bathe the courtyard in a pleasant light.

Beer garden feeling right on the water in the freedom fifteen

The freedom fifteen is for many the most beautiful place Köpenicks. The area is located directly on the shore and looks gorgeous, especially in the evening hours. In the lovingly tended garden you can put your feet up in peace in a deck chair, drink your beer and enjoy the atmosphere. There is also BBQ – so what are you waiting for?

Drinking beer under chestnuts at Zollpackhof on the Spree

On the edge of the government district, the Zollpackhof is a pearl in the green and on the water. In summer, the large beer garden under tall chestnut trees and the proximity to the Spree beckon. The kitchen is a mix of German and Austrian dishes with a Mediterranean touch. The oven-fresh land duck, the Bavarian-inspired roast pork or the pikeperch fillet are just a few tasty items on the menu. The highlight in winter is then inside the restaurant: a 360-degree round fireplace including a cat on the bench. It couldn’t be more comfortable.

Linger in the beer garden of the Eschenbräu brewery

Martin Eschenbrenner brews his own beer in Wedding. The brewery is right next to the beautiful, rustic beer cellar. Visitors can find out more about the process and ingredients at any time. There are the standard types such as Pils, dark and wheat beer, but also more unusual beers such as the Dark Bock or the Weddinator. Own fruit and fine brandies as well as apple juice are also on the drinks menu and in summer a large beer garden invites you to linger for a while. On top of that, whiskey is also produced here, making the Eschenbräu the perfect place for one of the freshest men’s table settings. And you should definitely try the tarte flambée!

Relax, drink and eat ice cream in the ZENNER’s beer and vineyards

Since the beginning of the year it has been clear that the old house in Treptower Park will shine in new splendor, without Burger King , but in the form of a wonderful cultural site: The ZENNER will be a wine and beer garden and an event location for Berlin’s cultural and cultural centers on over 8,000 square meters Gastronomy scene in one. It will take a while until the entire area is ready, but the Zenner ice cream parlor recently opened with ice cream from Rosa Canina and coffee from Andraschko . But the best is yet to come: Since the end of May you can also hang out in the wine and beer garden! Finally a decent place to eat ice cream and drink wine in Treptower Park.

Public viewing in the Jungfernheide forest high ropes course

You should be able to stand and be firm at height for a visit to the climbing garden in Jungfernheide. The garden is so big that you can shimmy through trees for half a day. When you have climbed enough, you can sit down here under the canopy of the water tower for a cozy public viewing. Of course, the beer garden also caters for physical well-being. All preliminary round games at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., all Germany games and finals will be shown here – if the mood is right, further broadcasts will be announced on the website.

Public viewing with a large LED screen in the Soda Club Berlin

In the Soda Beach Garden, in the middle of the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg, we will hopefully soon celebrate European championship victories. The Soda Club Berlin has the perfect open-air spot here to follow all the games on an XXL screen. Entry to the German games costs 5 euros, and those who want to watch other games pay 3 euros. Drinks and tasty bites are provided.

Drink a beer in the Café am Neuen See

The Café am Neuen See may no longer be an insider tip – but it is still a good one. Take a tour of the zoo and then sit down in the beer garden. In the evening you can make yourself comfortable here between trees and fairy lights.

Delicious drinks, German cuisine and dance evenings in the Clärchens Ballhaus

The Clärchens is a real institution in Berlin for all – regardless of age. In July 2020, Clärchens Ballhaus reopened with a new owner and new chef. There are currently no dance evenings where swing, tango and salsa are danced, but you can eat really delicious here in the large hall below as well as in the front garden and backyard. The menu includes German classics such as black pudding, Königsberger Klopse and Maultaschen, as a drink we recommend the ” Berlin Mule” with grain from the Berlin arsonists , Mampe and Thomas Henry Spicy Ginger . Very cool!

This is because we are currently realizing every day how valuable and not self-evident the little things are in life. A visit to the outdoor pool and favorite pizzeria, for example, watching films in the open-air cinema or absorbing art in the museum, sitting with friends in the beer garden or going to the theater in the evening. We love life and we love Berlin: That’s why we’re introducing you to our ultimate 21 favorite places in Berlin that you can now visit again. See you!

Favorite Places Of The Editors That You Can Visit Again Now

Chill out and do sports in the park at Gleisdreieck

A must in every season, preferably with the sun! The park is a gigantic recreational facility with seven play, fitness and sports areas. Heaps of meadow, sand, concrete and rubber floors are to be explored. There is a skate area with a BMX bowl to join in or be amazed at, street ball baskets, a soccer cage, trampolines, water games, lots of drivable paths and even a natural play garden to climb trees. The best? Nowhere is it too crowded, because all of this is spread over an incredible 31.5 hectares, divided into three parts of the park.

Things To Do On The Longest Day Of The Year | Midsummer

Selected wines in a relaxed atmosphere in the three bottle bar

The three bottle bar, only a few meters away from Böhmischer Platz, not only offers you relaxed light and even more relaxed people, but also a very exquisite menu. The wine selection is excellent, you can also buy all the varieties offered in bottle size and take them with you. In winter, mulled wine is also on the menu, with homemade dumplings to go. In summer you can sit here relaxed until late in the evening, sip aromatic coffee or treat yourself to a delicious scoop of ice cream at Eisderix just around the corner.

Live music, living room and beer garden: Festsaal Kreuzberg

The Festsaal Kreuzberg was one of Berlin’s cultural institutions for many years and was known for parties and shows by great musicians. In 2013 the building of the old ballroom burned down, leaving a painful gap – in 2017 the club finally found a new home. Between Schlesi and Treptower Park, on the grounds of the arena, pop and rock concerts as well as other exciting events take place again on a regular basis. Oh, and there is also a relaxed beer garden here.

Kreuzberg open-air cinema in the back courtyard of the Kunsthaus Bethanien

Anyone who knows the Kunstquartier Bethanien should know that the way there is worthwhile because of the great location alone. In addition, the selection of films at the Kreuzberg open-air cinema impresses with its cosmopolitanism, as all films are shown in the original language and with subtitles. After such a long period of abstinence from the cinema, we are really looking forward to the first good movie in the open air. What movies are running now again every day and what rules you need to consider for the summer 2021, you read here . Enjoy!

Splash around in the Humboldthain summer pool

The Humboldthain is a whimsical, but at the same time typical Berlin people’s park. Here you can stroll in the rose garden or drink a beer with your friends on the two observation flag towers, which always look pretty rocked. And then there is the outdoor pool, which is a great location in summer to cool off from the Berlin heat. You can currently book tickets for different time slots. Better be quick, because the slots are at least as popular as the outdoor fries.

Breakfast shop and bar in one: Allan’s Breakfast Club

The small menu at Allan’s Breakfast Club , which also functions as a breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon snack menu, includes French Tost, Eggs Benedict (with a very special Hollandaise sauce, which we will not reveal more about) and sourdough with portobello mushrooms. Always possible: the super delicious mimosas. In the evenings, the café (usually) turns into a wine bar with an open wine rack. Similar to the winery at Weinbergspark, you can help yourself and sip up your drink.

Eat gelato with a spatula at Cuore di Vetro

The Cuore di Vetro has been supplying ice cream lovers in Mitte with fantastic gelato for seven years . Our old office was only a few minutes’ walk away from the ice cream parlor and back then we regularly went to Max-Beer-Straße 33 for an ice cream scoop. Last year the second branch of Cuore di Vetro opened  in Friedrichshain. By the way, the name translates as “Heart of Glass”, an allusion to the glass ice cream workshop.

End of work on the banks of the Spree at the Holzmarkt25

The Holzmarkt is one of the most beautiful adult playgrounds in Berlin and you can get lost here when it gets dark. But it doesn’t matter if you look a little longer at the Spree while having a drink after work. Apart from that, the Holzmarkt has both cultural and culinary offers and is therefore the perfect all-rounder.

Enjoy natural wines in the JAJA wine bar

Natural wines are the latest trend and the flagship of the JAJA bar . From cultivation to production, the wine is left entirely to nature, i.e. no pesticides or other additives are used. The Franco-German wine bar in Neukölln builds on this very special, authentic taste and has more than 50 different wines in its range. And delicious food, perfectly matched to the grape juice. Santé!

See great work by contemporary photographers at C / O Berlin

An absolute must for every photography lover is the C / O Berlin in the Amerikahaus am Zoo. Changing contemporary world-class photographers – from Sebastião Salgado to Anton Corbijn – come here to help. New talents with their exciting projects are always presented. If you can’t manage the extensive exhibitions on two floors in one go, you can relax in the café of the house with its large window front or browse through photo books in the packed museum shop. The very interesting exhibition “SEND ME AN IMAGE: From Postcards to Social Media” is currently running. There!

Live music, open grill and bar combined in Rummels Bay

The atmosphere in Rummels Bay on Paul-und-Paula-Ufer on Rummelsburger See is somewhere between pirate bar and urban jungle and is one of the most beautiful places to relax in summer. On the program are delicious pizza from Ragazzi, draft beer and fine drinks from the bar, we like.

Sip cheap drinks and get to know people at Larks and Owls

A mix of Kreuzberg living room atmosphere and wonderful fresh flowers make the charm of the lark and owl . If you like charming second-hand furniture, good and cheap drinks, nice service and smoking, you’ve come to the right place. However, space is limited, so you should show up early on weekends to get a cozy place.

Things To Do On The Longest Day Of The Year | Midsummer

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

On June 21st is the beginning of summer and so the summer solstice is approaching again. Specifically, this means: Today is the longest day of the year, which in Scandinavia, but also in the Baltic States, is traditionally celebrated with the “Midsommar”. In Berlin, the sun will rise at 4:44 a.m. and the sunset will not start until 9:31 p.m. – so we are almost exactly rewarded with 16 hours and 47 minutes of daylight.

Things To Do On The Longest Day Of The Year

If that’s no reason to make the most of the day and experience one or the other adventure, right? We have 11 tips for you on how you can best enjoy the longest day of the year and maybe even a little festive – from early in the morning until late in the evening. Happy Midsummer Festival!

The Most Beautiful Places For A Relaxed Lemonade After Work

Go up to the Drachenberg at sunrise

The Drachenberg and the associated view cut a really good figure in virtually all situations, but the view from so far above is simply too unobstructed and perfect. Nevertheless, there is one time of day when we like the Drachenberg the most: at sunrise. Our tip: Make yourself a nice pot of coffee, pack a snack and start very early in the morning so that you are up shortly before sunrise. There you are almost undisturbed, alone with the sun, the crows and the beautiful Berlin that lies ahead of you. Terribly beautiful and really infinitely romantic.

Jog through the nature park Schöneberger Südgelände

In Schöneberg you can choose between three great parks that just scream for a short or long jog. If you prefer to have things tidy and modern, the best way to walk is through the park at Gleisdreieck. For those who prefer a little more nature and less Potsdamer Platz scenery, we recommend the Volkspark Schöneberg. For the really wild, the southern area offers the perfect running route. Cyclists and dogs are not allowed on the site, but graffiti artists and all those who need a break and want to get lost in the jungle-like natural landscape.

Eat breakfast dirty egg sandwiches at 44 Brekkie

Pretty eggciting what’s being served on Rykestrasse. Friends of breakfast sandwiches get their money’s worth at 44 Brekkie . In the middle of two toasted slices of bread from the Bekarei there is fluffy scrambled eggs, which can be paired with salmon, ham or avocado. On top comes a spicy mayo, which gives the sandwich an Asian touch. The creations come from Gonca and Muhsin, who opened a cozy breakfast spot with the new shop. Fresh orange juice, coffee from roasting coffee cherry in Kreuzberg and delicious cakes make but each * n happy, right?

Jump from the 5-meter springboard in the Neukölln summer pool

Go upstairs, briefly enjoy the view over the overcrowded bathroom, the tower of the nearby mosque and the Tempelhofer Feld, look down into the blue pool, shrug your shoulders, think briefly about your school days and quickly climb down the stairs again.

Climbing in the Jungfernheide forest high ropes course

You should be able to stand and be firm at height for a visit to the climbing garden in Jungfernheide. The garden is so big that you can shimmy through trees for half a day. When you’ve climbed enough, you can relax a bit in the garden by the water tower.

Munch on the water in the fisherman’s hut on Schlachtensee

If you want to get out of the city and into the countryside, a walk around the Schlachtensee followed by lunch in the fisherman’s hut is ideal . In summer the idyllic beer garden is bursting at the seams, when it gets colder, you can sip your soup and cappuccino in the cozy restaurant. On Sunday, the Villa am See invites you to brunch and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can find everything your hungry heart desires.

Walk along the Krummen Lanke and then go for a swim

Drive to the lake quickly after work and jump into the water, that’s very possible on the Krumme Lanke. There are plenty of small, hidden swimming spots where you can relax. And there’s even a song about the lake by Fredy Sieg! “And then I sat on the bench with Emma, below us the Krumme Lanke” – if that is not a hit. As long as it is still too cold, the walk is “only” worthwhile, here there is a lot of nature and peace to relax.

Barbecue in the Volkspark Friedrichshain

The Volkspark Friedrichshain invites you to linger and have a picnic, especially around the fairy tale fountain. In fact, you can have a barbecue at Café Neuer Hain near the volleyball fields. There you can borrow grills for a deposit. Attention, grilling is only allowed with prior online reservation and a grill badge from Café Neuer Hain . Then nothing can stop you from turning the eastern part of the Volkspark into a small smokehouse in summer.

After a walk, toast the day at the Modersohn Bridge

The Modersohn Bridge is, let’s be honest, not that beautiful at all. Still, it is legendary. Because a whole bunch of people gathers here every day to toast the evening and watch the wonderful sunsets. The Modersohn Bridge is the perfect destination after an evening stroll over the nearby RAW site in Friedrichshain or a walk along the promenade of the Media Spree, which is not far away. By the way, at the perfect sunset, one guy usually puts on electronic music on his iPad. Everything is improvised, but it still has charm.

Drinks and pizza on the banks of the Spree in the global economy

Behind the Chancellery is the imposing House of World Cultures, which not only invites you to look at art, but also to eat and drink. The adjacent global economy is a roof terrace, beer garden, pavilion and restaurant in one and offers everything from pizza to draft beer, coffee and cake to drinks to take away, everything you need for a nice sundowner or a stop on a stroll along the banks of the water. The grandiose view of the television tower is on top!

End the day in the Rehberge open-air cinema

The old open-air stage in Volkspark Rehberge has been revamped and shows you a film every day that is sometimes classic, sometimes new, sometimes Hollywood, sometimes independent.

The Most Beautiful Places For A Relaxed Lemonade After Work

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

ummer is finally here! In the last few weeks the thermometer in Berlin has climbed more and more often above the 30-degree mark, we were rewarded with breathtaking sunsets and even in the evening you could still take it outside. Ideal conditions to finally spend the upcoming summer evenings outside in the most beautiful spots in town. Everything what it takes? The best friends in tow, possibly a picnic blanket, a few tasty snacks and of course a refreshing drink that quenches thirst and tastes like summer.

This is where the Krombacher lemonade comes into play, which tastes like summer out of the bottle. Honestly true! It’s easy to explain why: The lemonade beer consists of 70% naturally cloudy lemon lemonade and 30% Krombacher Pils – the perfect mix if you love the sweetness of a lemonade but don’t want to miss out on that certain sip of beer for that after-work feeling.

Cafes, Restaurants And Bars Around The Berlin Zoo That You Should Know

FULL BOTTLE OF REFRESHMENT AFTER WORK

The Krombacher Limobier is therefore the perfect after-work companion for evenings with friends or colleagues. By the way: The soda beer is now also available in 0.5 liter bottles. That means: fewer ways to the next Späti to get supplies.

Together with Krombacher we are looking for the most beautiful places in town, where you can relax and end the day with a lemonade. Where is your favorite spot? Have a look at our Insta story and send us your photos of your most beautiful after-work moments with a Krombacher lemonade – with a bit of luck you can win one of the many great prizes (from SUP boards to Sleepero vouchers to lounge chairs). We are looking forward to your pictures!

We’ll provide you with a bit of inspiration here:

Watch the hustle and bustle in Görlitzer Park

Even if the Görli does not have the best reputation, it is the best place to observe all the different people in Kreuzberg. You can also play mini golf here with black light, stroke animals on the children’s farm, have a completely legal barbecue, relax, have a beer or just hiss a lemonade!

Enjoy freedom in the middle of the Tempelhofer Feld

The Tempelhofer Feld is the meeting point for all of Berlin in summer. Here not only various sports are carried out, but also grilled, chilled and gardened. It’s not far from Neukölln, just past the barbecue area and through the middle under the next tree. In addition to nice weather, a picnic, a blanket and a cool drink are of course ideal – you won’t see so much sky anywhere else in Berlin.

Let your mind wander at the Landwehr Canal

You can go for a wonderful walk along the Landwehr Canal and we are sure that the area is one of the most beautiful areas in Berlin. When the sun is shining and you take an ice cream or a delicious lemonade with you as a provisions, this is the best place to end the evening on the banks.

Spend a day in Treptower Park

Treptower Park is always worth a trip, especially in summer. Here, where Berlin is slowly becoming less turbulent, you can actually spend almost a whole day. Rent a pedal boat near the Insel der Jugend and sail on the Spree; take a look at the imposing, somewhat hidden Soviet memorial; let your gaze wander into space with a visit to the Archenold observatory; and then enjoy the sunset on the banks of the Spree.

Swim in the Tegeler See and then ring in the evening with a lemonade beer

You’ve probably already noticed, but we’re absolute water rats. Especially now in summer, when it can get very hot and humid in the city, cooling off in the evening at Lake Tegel after work is just the thing. And that is meant ambiguously, because after jumping into the lake there is of course a cool lemonade beer to finally leave the stress of the day behind you. This is how after work tastes, if you ask us!

After work beer on the Spree

If you stay in Schönweide until the evening, you can say goodbye to the day with a (soda) beer from the Späti (yes, there’s something like that here too) on the Kaisersteg while rafts, ships and boats sail by. From the pedestrian bridge that connects Nieder- with Oberschöneweide, you have a great view of the Spree and the old factories of the KWO and HTW.

Escape the city at the Prenzlauer Berg water tower

Berlin’s oldest water tower is located between Knaackstrasse and Belforter Strasse in the immediate vicinity of Kollwitzplatz, in the middle of a small but particularly beautiful green area. This is where the surrounding offices often meet for lunch breaks in summer and the mothers of Prenzlauer Berg in the afternoon on the large playground. A small oasis of well-being in the middle of Berlin’s center and the sunset with a view of the television tower is simply spectacular.

Enjoy romance in the palace garden at Charlottenburg Palace

You don’t necessarily have to go to Potsdam to turtle in a blue-flowered garden. In the palace garden, great emotions are inevitable in front of a large garden backdrop. Maybe not a bad place for an official application, either.

Enjoy the view at the waterfall in Viktoriapark

Stock up on Turkish delicacies and drinks on Mehringdamm and head towards Viktoriapark and walk to the waterfall. On the Kreuzberg you have a great view over Mitte, Kreuzberg, the former Schultheiss brewery and the relics of Tempelhof Airport. If you want to give yourself the full load: watch the sunset from here. This also works wonderfully in winter with hot tea or mulled wine from the thermos. The next time we are amazed, we won’t forget to take a photo of it.

Enjoy the sun on the Admiralbrücke

The Admiralbrücke can almost be described as a universal favorite place. During the day you can talk over a coffee, sit comfortably in the sun, treat yourself to a delicious pizza from Il Casolare and then start a short walk along the canal. And in the evening you can do exactly the same thing, but then with soda beer instead of coffee. Relaxed!

Cafes, Restaurants And Bars Around The Berlin Zoo That You Should Know

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

What do Kurfürstendamm, Friedrichstrasse or the government district have in common? Exactly, culinary it looks rather poor here at first glance. The same applies to the zoological garden. Fast-food outlets dominate between the station and the Europa-Center, while there is much to discover and taste – beyond the bikini  B e rlin . You should remember these 11 addresses around the zoological garden.

The Best Ice Cream Parlors In Schoneberg And Steglitz

Italian cuisine and the most delicious wines in MINE / WINE

It is not easy for anyone looking for a really good and at the same time beautiful Italian in Berlin. Fortunately for all of us, there has been a restaurant since the beginning of the year where we can drown our Italian wanderlust in red wine, pasta, truffle butter and tiramisu – the Mine / Wine . Chef and restaurant owner Mikhail Mnatsakanov brings Italian classics and delicious self-interpretations onto pretty plates. Our favorites: the tortelli with burrata and truffle, the vitello tonnato and the in-house prosecco.

The Kantini Foodmarket in Bikini Berlin

Since mid-January there has finally been a street food market in Charlottenburg with the Kantini in Bikini Berlin. The motto of the new gastronomic concept is “Here is Berlin sniffling” and the 13 different stands invite you to do just that. From poke bowls to bao buns, waffles and hummus to Berlin currywurst – everyone is sure to find something in the Kantini . There are, for example, Sons of Mana , Pasta Deli , Royals & Rice and Djimalaya, and there are also two pop-up stands that regularly change operators. A special feature: the view of the zoo!

Drink coffee at The Barn at Kranzler Eck

With the move into the old Café Kranzler on Kudamm, the coffee roasting company The Barn has dared to venture into the west of Berlin. With a view of the Kurfürstendamm / Joachimstaler Straße intersection, you can drink espresso, flat white and Americano high up here, snack on sweet things and escape the hustle and bustle of shopping.

Urban idyll in the literary café

If you don’t feel like the expensive, touristy and stuffy Reinhard’s in the Kempinkski Hotel around the corner, you prefer to go to the quiet and idyllic literature café for the obligatory coffee and cake date with parents or grandparents . Here you can sit in the garden and listen to the chirping of birds, read your favorite book and not hear anything of the car-cheeky behavior on Ku’damm. Anyway, a walk through Fasanenstrasse with its magnificent old buildings, shops and galleries is worthwhile. Chic Berlin, you’ll find it here again. And if you want some culture with your dinner on Monday evening, Richard Burger will serve you a few literary works.

Enjoy oriental fusion cuisine from NENI Berlin

Although people sometimes tend to shy away from restaurants in hotels, in the case of the NENI at the 25 Hours Hotel , you would miss a lot: The fusion cuisine with Persian, Moroccan, Spanish and Israeli influences is first class and the hummus is a creamy, aromatic poem. We promise you: you will float in hummus heaven.

German classics, cake and beer in the Schleusenkrug

There are several beer gardens in the Tiergarten and the Schleusenkrug is one of them. The restaurant is located right next to the lock at the Untere Freiarchenbrücke – hence the name – and serves German cuisine, grilled dishes, breakfast and cakes. In summer the small beer garden is bursting at the seams with the fairy lights.

Burritos and quesadillas at Dolores

There are those days when you just really crave fat, fat burritos. Dolores is the perfect answer to that. The shop on Wittenbergplatz has the best Californian wraps that you can have stuffed with or without meat, beans, cheese, salsa and guacamole. If you prefer salad, you can order the whole thing or order the quesadillas. After that you are well satiated and happy. What always works: nachos with guacamole.

Drink a beer in the Café am Neuen See

The Café am Neuen See may no longer be an insider tip – but it is still a good one. Take a tour of the zoo and then sit down in the beer garden. In the evening you can make yourself comfortable here between trees and fairy lights.

Eat schnitzel in the Ottenthal

This classic Austrian restaurant not only serves classic Wiener Schnitzel from organic veal with delicious potato and bird salad, but also cordon bleu from organic veal saddle filled with Voralberger mountain cheese and fine rosemary boiled ham. It makes your mouth water. And because you can never have enough schnitzel, the Ottenthal also has “Schnitzel love” to take away. Twice Wiener Schnitzel with salad and a chilled bottle of “Liebedich” Grüner Veltliner 2013 imported directly from the Wachau.

Chic and inconspicuous: The Central Bar at the Zoo

Two years ago, the inconspicuous Central Bar opened in the S-Bahn arches across from the Theater des Westen . The operators Torsten Bender and Sebastian Mathow had previously been to the Green Door in Schöneberg for a long time . A long, narrow room, black walls and a counter made of wood and black marble – the Bar Zentral is one of the minimalist and adult bars in the city.

The Best Ice Cream Parlors In Schoneberg And Steglitz

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

One of our favorite pastimes in summer is clearly eating ice cream. Sometimes in a cup, sometimes in a crispy waffle, on a cookie or on a warm waffle with cream and sauce. For those who like to walk through Schöneberg and Steglitz with a passion for ice cream, we have selected our 11 favorite ice cream parlors.

The 11 Best Ice Cream Parlors In Schoneberg And Steglitz

Ice cream, cookies and homemade waffles at Jones Ice Cream

The ice-cream biscuit creations from Jones are nothing new for Berliners with a sweet tooth – the baby blue food truck is regularly at the Bite Club and Street Food Thursday. Since 2017 there are varieties like “Salted Butter Caramel” and “Grapefruit & Earl Gray” now finally in the colorful Akazienkiez. In keeping with the cold season, Gabrielle and Jan now also offer creamy hot chocolate (warning: addictive!) And delicious waffles. They taste even better with cream, chocolate sauce, powdered sugar or a scoop of ice cream.

11 Cafes, Restaurants And Bars On Stuttgarter Platz That You Should Know

Madagascar vanilla and black sesame at Berlin Homemade Ice Cream

In Schöneberger Akazienkiez there are several ice cream parlors that we visit regularly in summer, one of which is Berlin Homemade Icecream . The small shop scores with real taste, high quality and delicious varieties such as pear sorbet, black sesame and Madagascar vanilla. There are no aromatic pastes in the ice cream, only real fruits and homemade creams. You are not allowed to try your way through the varieties before ordering and I would not ask for sprinkles either. The owners certainly don’t get the price for the friendliest service, but the ice cream tastes fantastic and is worth a trip to Schöneberg.

Sip ice cream at Franken & Grunewald

Cups instead of balls: At Franken & Grunewald in Schöneberg, instead of individual balls, you can also sniff delicious cups. It’s not fancy, but that has never bothered the spaghetti ice cream, the tiramisu or the chocolate cup earlier than it does today. And let’s be honest, is there anything better than frozen cream in an ice cream sundae? Just.

Delicious ice cream from our own production at Eisfee

In the case of the ice fairy, only what goes on the small sign at the end goes into the ice. Organic milk, real fruits or Sicilian pistachios, but no additives or flavor enhancers. As in Italy, the ice cream is poured into the waffle or mug with a spatula. The Eisfee is now available four times in Berlin: in Schöneberg, Friedenau, Steglitz and Tempelhof.

Peruvian specialties and ice cream in Esmeralda’s Inca Café

Lucuma ice cream, Peruvian chocolate and Chicha Morada ice cream are just three types that Esmeralda Madlonado offers in her Inca Café . Her predecessor, Gerhard Eilers, who also comes from Lima, relied on Peruvian specialties – both savory and sweet. The café in Schöneberger Akazienkiez has breakfast, empanadas, ice cream, hot dishes and damn good piscos.

Lemon and cinnamon ice cream with vanilla & apricot

Those who love Vanille & Apricot ice cream are in luck, because there are five ice cream parlors in Berlin and one in Potsdam. Everything homemade, everything delicious. With varieties such as peanuts with home-baked brownies or lemon-cinnamon, you are always looking forward to the next lick.

Delicious ice cream (without egg) lick Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream

“Ice cream is the perfect combination of good food, friends and enjoyment,” says Sabine. In 2014, after a while in London, the Berliner opened her ice cream parlor Henrys in Steglitz. Here she offers homemade ice cream. Organic milk and cream, real fruits and brownies, biscuits and the like from our own production are processed. Eggs are not used in ice cream production and the sugar content is also kept as low as possible. In addition to (vegan) sorbets, there are also vegan varieties such as almond and chocolate ice cream.

Coffee, cake and ice cream in the Nunzio CLOSED

This small, great and extremely popular cafe is only a stone’s throw away from Schloßstraße in Steglitz. The Nunzio places a lot of emphasis on quality and friendliness, just as we like it. As far as possible, the products are regional and seasonal, often even directly from Berlin. In summer you can cool off with a scoop of ice cream, if you can leave it with a scoop, and tempting cake creations take center stage in the colder months. Try the salty caramel ice cream, the cheesecake or the banana bread!

Peach prosecco ice cream and stracciatella with Lauter ice cream

At Lauter Eis in Steglitz, in addition to classics such as chocolate, stracciatella and strawberry, you can also get more unusual types of ice cream such as saffron, vanilla balsamic vinegar or peach prosecco. In total, the offer includes over 80 different types of ice cream, including milk ice cream and vegan sorbets. The types of ice cream change depending on the season. In autumn come quince, cinnamon, in summer rhubarb or gooseberry.

Award-winning vanilla ice cream and DIY cups at IceGuerilla

At IceGuerilla you have the choice between a mug, a black waffle and a homemade pop waffle, the latter being more of a meal than a small snack. EisGuerilla comes from Beeskow, the homemade ice cream can also be bought in the online shop and in 2012 the vanilla ice cream was voted the best vanilla ice cream in Germany. In the small shop on Schloßstraße you can order varieties such as caramel cream puffs, mango, crepe ice cream or aperol spritz. There are also various toppings and sauces. Most of the ice cream production uses organic products and ingredients from the region.

Gluten-free bakery-pastry shop Eiscafe Voh

If you have gluten on your black list, you should write the gluten-free bakery-pastry shop Voh in the address book. The Friedenau opponents of gluten have been regular guests here since 2011 and stock up on cakes, bread and ice cream. So if you yourself are always looking for the GF in the menu or if you visit one of your “Zölli” friends again, go to Friedenau and make him happy with a delicious piece of cake without any grain.

Those who are thirsty can choose between almost 2000 wines.

Eating homemade organic pasta at the brother heart

In their Bruderherz restaurant , the two brothers Tomasz and Michal Sokolowski have made it their business to serve “timeless Italian cuisine”. One brother takes care of the guests while the other cooks. Among other things, Tomasz learned in the Black Raven and on his travels through Sicily. Ice cream, frozen yoghurt & waffles snack in Moono Frozen Yoghurt and Bubble Tea
