Things To Do On The Longest Day Of The Year | Midsummer

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

On June 21st is the beginning of summer and so the summer solstice is approaching again. Specifically, this means: Today is the longest day of the year, which in Scandinavia, but also in the Baltic States, is traditionally celebrated with the “Midsommar”. In Berlin, the sun will rise at 4:44 a.m. and the sunset will not start until 9:31 p.m. – so we are almost exactly rewarded with 16 hours and 47 minutes of daylight.

Things To Do On The Longest Day Of The Year

If that’s no reason to make the most of the day and experience one or the other adventure, right? We have 11 tips for you on how you can best enjoy the longest day of the year and maybe even a little festive – from early in the morning until late in the evening. Happy Midsummer Festival!

The Most Beautiful Places For A Relaxed Lemonade After Work

Go up to the Drachenberg at sunrise

The Drachenberg and the associated view cut a really good figure in virtually all situations, but the view from so far above is simply too unobstructed and perfect. Nevertheless, there is one time of day when we like the Drachenberg the most: at sunrise. Our tip: Make yourself a nice pot of coffee, pack a snack and start very early in the morning so that you are up shortly before sunrise. There you are almost undisturbed, alone with the sun, the crows and the beautiful Berlin that lies ahead of you. Terribly beautiful and really infinitely romantic.

Jog through the nature park Schöneberger Südgelände

In Schöneberg you can choose between three great parks that just scream for a short or long jog. If you prefer to have things tidy and modern, the best way to walk is through the park at Gleisdreieck. For those who prefer a little more nature and less Potsdamer Platz scenery, we recommend the Volkspark Schöneberg. For the really wild, the southern area offers the perfect running route. Cyclists and dogs are not allowed on the site, but graffiti artists and all those who need a break and want to get lost in the jungle-like natural landscape.

Eat breakfast dirty egg sandwiches at 44 Brekkie

Pretty eggciting what’s being served on Rykestrasse. Friends of breakfast sandwiches get their money’s worth at 44 Brekkie . In the middle of two toasted slices of bread from the Bekarei there is fluffy scrambled eggs, which can be paired with salmon, ham or avocado. On top comes a spicy mayo, which gives the sandwich an Asian touch. The creations come from Gonca and Muhsin, who opened a cozy breakfast spot with the new shop. Fresh orange juice, coffee from roasting coffee cherry in Kreuzberg and delicious cakes make but each * n happy, right?

Jump from the 5-meter springboard in the Neukölln summer pool

Go upstairs, briefly enjoy the view over the overcrowded bathroom, the tower of the nearby mosque and the Tempelhofer Feld, look down into the blue pool, shrug your shoulders, think briefly about your school days and quickly climb down the stairs again.

Climbing in the Jungfernheide forest high ropes course

You should be able to stand and be firm at height for a visit to the climbing garden in Jungfernheide. The garden is so big that you can shimmy through trees for half a day. When you’ve climbed enough, you can relax a bit in the garden by the water tower.

Munch on the water in the fisherman’s hut on Schlachtensee

If you want to get out of the city and into the countryside, a walk around the Schlachtensee followed by lunch in the fisherman’s hut is ideal . In summer the idyllic beer garden is bursting at the seams, when it gets colder, you can sip your soup and cappuccino in the cozy restaurant. On Sunday, the Villa am See invites you to brunch and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can find everything your hungry heart desires.

Walk along the Krummen Lanke and then go for a swim

Drive to the lake quickly after work and jump into the water, that’s very possible on the Krumme Lanke. There are plenty of small, hidden swimming spots where you can relax. And there’s even a song about the lake by Fredy Sieg! “And then I sat on the bench with Emma, below us the Krumme Lanke” – if that is not a hit. As long as it is still too cold, the walk is “only” worthwhile, here there is a lot of nature and peace to relax.

Barbecue in the Volkspark Friedrichshain

The Volkspark Friedrichshain invites you to linger and have a picnic, especially around the fairy tale fountain. In fact, you can have a barbecue at Café Neuer Hain near the volleyball fields. There you can borrow grills for a deposit. Attention, grilling is only allowed with prior online reservation and a grill badge from Café Neuer Hain . Then nothing can stop you from turning the eastern part of the Volkspark into a small smokehouse in summer.

After a walk, toast the day at the Modersohn Bridge

The Modersohn Bridge is, let’s be honest, not that beautiful at all. Still, it is legendary. Because a whole bunch of people gathers here every day to toast the evening and watch the wonderful sunsets. The Modersohn Bridge is the perfect destination after an evening stroll over the nearby RAW site in Friedrichshain or a walk along the promenade of the Media Spree, which is not far away. By the way, at the perfect sunset, one guy usually puts on electronic music on his iPad. Everything is improvised, but it still has charm.

Drinks and pizza on the banks of the Spree in the global economy

Behind the Chancellery is the imposing House of World Cultures, which not only invites you to look at art, but also to eat and drink. The adjacent global economy is a roof terrace, beer garden, pavilion and restaurant in one and offers everything from pizza to draft beer, coffee and cake to drinks to take away, everything you need for a nice sundowner or a stop on a stroll along the banks of the water. The grandiose view of the television tower is on top!

End the day in the Rehberge open-air cinema

The old open-air stage in Volkspark Rehberge has been revamped and shows you a film every day that is sometimes classic, sometimes new, sometimes Hollywood, sometimes independent.

The Most Beautiful Places For A Relaxed Lemonade After Work

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

ummer is finally here! In the last few weeks the thermometer in Berlin has climbed more and more often above the 30-degree mark, we were rewarded with breathtaking sunsets and even in the evening you could still take it outside. Ideal conditions to finally spend the upcoming summer evenings outside in the most beautiful spots in town. Everything what it takes? The best friends in tow, possibly a picnic blanket, a few tasty snacks and of course a refreshing drink that quenches thirst and tastes like summer.

This is where the Krombacher lemonade comes into play, which tastes like summer out of the bottle. Honestly true! It’s easy to explain why: The lemonade beer consists of 70% naturally cloudy lemon lemonade and 30% Krombacher Pils – the perfect mix if you love the sweetness of a lemonade but don’t want to miss out on that certain sip of beer for that after-work feeling.

Cafes, Restaurants And Bars Around The Berlin Zoo That You Should Know

FULL BOTTLE OF REFRESHMENT AFTER WORK

The Krombacher Limobier is therefore the perfect after-work companion for evenings with friends or colleagues. By the way: The soda beer is now also available in 0.5 liter bottles. That means: fewer ways to the next Späti to get supplies.

Together with Krombacher we are looking for the most beautiful places in town, where you can relax and end the day with a lemonade. Where is your favorite spot? Have a look at our Insta story and send us your photos of your most beautiful after-work moments with a Krombacher lemonade – with a bit of luck you can win one of the many great prizes (from SUP boards to Sleepero vouchers to lounge chairs). We are looking forward to your pictures!

We’ll provide you with a bit of inspiration here:

Watch the hustle and bustle in Görlitzer Park

Even if the Görli does not have the best reputation, it is the best place to observe all the different people in Kreuzberg. You can also play mini golf here with black light, stroke animals on the children’s farm, have a completely legal barbecue, relax, have a beer or just hiss a lemonade!

Enjoy freedom in the middle of the Tempelhofer Feld

The Tempelhofer Feld is the meeting point for all of Berlin in summer. Here not only various sports are carried out, but also grilled, chilled and gardened. It’s not far from Neukölln, just past the barbecue area and through the middle under the next tree. In addition to nice weather, a picnic, a blanket and a cool drink are of course ideal – you won’t see so much sky anywhere else in Berlin.

Let your mind wander at the Landwehr Canal

You can go for a wonderful walk along the Landwehr Canal and we are sure that the area is one of the most beautiful areas in Berlin. When the sun is shining and you take an ice cream or a delicious lemonade with you as a provisions, this is the best place to end the evening on the banks.

Spend a day in Treptower Park

Treptower Park is always worth a trip, especially in summer. Here, where Berlin is slowly becoming less turbulent, you can actually spend almost a whole day. Rent a pedal boat near the Insel der Jugend and sail on the Spree; take a look at the imposing, somewhat hidden Soviet memorial; let your gaze wander into space with a visit to the Archenold observatory; and then enjoy the sunset on the banks of the Spree.

Swim in the Tegeler See and then ring in the evening with a lemonade beer

You’ve probably already noticed, but we’re absolute water rats. Especially now in summer, when it can get very hot and humid in the city, cooling off in the evening at Lake Tegel after work is just the thing. And that is meant ambiguously, because after jumping into the lake there is of course a cool lemonade beer to finally leave the stress of the day behind you. This is how after work tastes, if you ask us!

After work beer on the Spree

If you stay in Schönweide until the evening, you can say goodbye to the day with a (soda) beer from the Späti (yes, there’s something like that here too) on the Kaisersteg while rafts, ships and boats sail by. From the pedestrian bridge that connects Nieder- with Oberschöneweide, you have a great view of the Spree and the old factories of the KWO and HTW.

Escape the city at the Prenzlauer Berg water tower

Berlin’s oldest water tower is located between Knaackstrasse and Belforter Strasse in the immediate vicinity of Kollwitzplatz, in the middle of a small but particularly beautiful green area. This is where the surrounding offices often meet for lunch breaks in summer and the mothers of Prenzlauer Berg in the afternoon on the large playground. A small oasis of well-being in the middle of Berlin’s center and the sunset with a view of the television tower is simply spectacular.

Enjoy romance in the palace garden at Charlottenburg Palace

You don’t necessarily have to go to Potsdam to turtle in a blue-flowered garden. In the palace garden, great emotions are inevitable in front of a large garden backdrop. Maybe not a bad place for an official application, either.

Enjoy the view at the waterfall in Viktoriapark

Stock up on Turkish delicacies and drinks on Mehringdamm and head towards Viktoriapark and walk to the waterfall. On the Kreuzberg you have a great view over Mitte, Kreuzberg, the former Schultheiss brewery and the relics of Tempelhof Airport. If you want to give yourself the full load: watch the sunset from here. This also works wonderfully in winter with hot tea or mulled wine from the thermos. The next time we are amazed, we won’t forget to take a photo of it.

Enjoy the sun on the Admiralbrücke

The Admiralbrücke can almost be described as a universal favorite place. During the day you can talk over a coffee, sit comfortably in the sun, treat yourself to a delicious pizza from Il Casolare and then start a short walk along the canal. And in the evening you can do exactly the same thing, but then with soda beer instead of coffee. Relaxed!

Cafes, Restaurants And Bars Around The Berlin Zoo That You Should Know

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

What do Kurfürstendamm, Friedrichstrasse or the government district have in common? Exactly, culinary it looks rather poor here at first glance. The same applies to the zoological garden. Fast-food outlets dominate between the station and the Europa-Center, while there is much to discover and taste – beyond the bikini  B e rlin . You should remember these 11 addresses around the zoological garden.

Cafes, Restaurants And Bars Around The Berlin Zoo That You Should Know

Eat in the SUPER classic of Berlin cuisine and have a relaxed breakfast on the weekend

In the SUPER Concept Space on the roof of  Bikini Berlin,  you can start the day relaxed with a SUPER breakfast with pancakes, mimosas, sandwiches and muesli and strengthen yourself for the shopping tour. During the week there is a SUPER lunch with international cuisine. Since June 2018, the restaurant with a view of the zoo has had a new menu dedicated to Berlin cuisine. From 4 p.m. you can get Mettstulle, Kalter Hund, Königsberger Klopse and Co.

The Best Ice Cream Parlors In Schoneberg And Steglitz

Italian cuisine and the most delicious wines in MINE / WINE

It is not easy for anyone looking for a really good and at the same time beautiful Italian in Berlin. Fortunately for all of us, there has been a restaurant since the beginning of the year where we can drown our Italian wanderlust in red wine, pasta, truffle butter and tiramisu – the Mine / Wine . Chef and restaurant owner Mikhail Mnatsakanov brings Italian classics and delicious self-interpretations onto pretty plates. Our favorites: the tortelli with burrata and truffle, the vitello tonnato and the in-house prosecco.

The Kantini Foodmarket in Bikini Berlin

Since mid-January there has finally been a street food market in Charlottenburg with the Kantini in Bikini Berlin. The motto of the new gastronomic concept is “Here is Berlin sniffling” and the 13 different stands invite you to do just that. From poke bowls to bao buns, waffles and hummus to Berlin currywurst – everyone is sure to find something in the Kantini . There are, for example, Sons of Mana , Pasta Deli , Royals & Rice and Djimalaya, and there are also two pop-up stands that regularly change operators. A special feature: the view of the zoo!

Drink coffee at The Barn at Kranzler Eck

With the move into the old Café Kranzler on Kudamm, the coffee roasting company The Barn has dared to venture into the west of Berlin. With a view of the Kurfürstendamm / Joachimstaler Straße intersection, you can drink espresso, flat white and Americano high up here, snack on sweet things and escape the hustle and bustle of shopping.

Urban idyll in the literary café

If you don’t feel like the expensive, touristy and stuffy Reinhard’s in the Kempinkski Hotel around the corner, you prefer to go to the quiet and idyllic literature café for the obligatory coffee and cake date with parents or grandparents . Here you can sit in the garden and listen to the chirping of birds, read your favorite book and not hear anything of the car-cheeky behavior on Ku’damm. Anyway, a walk through Fasanenstrasse with its magnificent old buildings, shops and galleries is worthwhile. Chic Berlin, you’ll find it here again. And if you want some culture with your dinner on Monday evening, Richard Burger will serve you a few literary works.

Enjoy oriental fusion cuisine from NENI Berlin

Although people sometimes tend to shy away from restaurants in hotels, in the case of the NENI at the 25 Hours Hotel , you would miss a lot: The fusion cuisine with Persian, Moroccan, Spanish and Israeli influences is first class and the hummus is a creamy, aromatic poem. We promise you: you will float in hummus heaven.

German classics, cake and beer in the Schleusenkrug

There are several beer gardens in the Tiergarten and the Schleusenkrug is one of them. The restaurant is located right next to the lock at the Untere Freiarchenbrücke – hence the name – and serves German cuisine, grilled dishes, breakfast and cakes. In summer the small beer garden is bursting at the seams with the fairy lights.

Burritos and quesadillas at Dolores

There are those days when you just really crave fat, fat burritos. Dolores is the perfect answer to that. The shop on Wittenbergplatz has the best Californian wraps that you can have stuffed with or without meat, beans, cheese, salsa and guacamole. If you prefer salad, you can order the whole thing or order the quesadillas. After that you are well satiated and happy. What always works: nachos with guacamole.

Drink a beer in the Café am Neuen See

The Café am Neuen See may no longer be an insider tip – but it is still a good one. Take a tour of the zoo and then sit down in the beer garden. In the evening you can make yourself comfortable here between trees and fairy lights.

Eat schnitzel in the Ottenthal

This classic Austrian restaurant not only serves classic Wiener Schnitzel from organic veal with delicious potato and bird salad, but also cordon bleu from organic veal saddle filled with Voralberger mountain cheese and fine rosemary boiled ham. It makes your mouth water. And because you can never have enough schnitzel, the Ottenthal also has “Schnitzel love” to take away. Twice Wiener Schnitzel with salad and a chilled bottle of “Liebedich” Grüner Veltliner 2013 imported directly from the Wachau.

Chic and inconspicuous: The Central Bar at the Zoo

Two years ago, the inconspicuous Central Bar opened in the S-Bahn arches across from the Theater des Westen . The operators Torsten Bender and Sebastian Mathow had previously been to the Green Door in Schöneberg for a long time . A long, narrow room, black walls and a counter made of wood and black marble – the Bar Zentral is one of the minimalist and adult bars in the city.

The Best Ice Cream Parlors In Schoneberg And Steglitz

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

One of our favorite pastimes in summer is clearly eating ice cream. Sometimes in a cup, sometimes in a crispy waffle, on a cookie or on a warm waffle with cream and sauce. For those who like to walk through Schöneberg and Steglitz with a passion for ice cream, we have selected our 11 favorite ice cream parlors.

The 11 Best Ice Cream Parlors In Schoneberg And Steglitz

Ice cream, cookies and homemade waffles at Jones Ice Cream

The ice-cream biscuit creations from Jones are nothing new for Berliners with a sweet tooth – the baby blue food truck is regularly at the Bite Club and Street Food Thursday. Since 2017 there are varieties like “Salted Butter Caramel” and “Grapefruit & Earl Gray” now finally in the colorful Akazienkiez. In keeping with the cold season, Gabrielle and Jan now also offer creamy hot chocolate (warning: addictive!) And delicious waffles. They taste even better with cream, chocolate sauce, powdered sugar or a scoop of ice cream.

11 Cafes, Restaurants And Bars On Stuttgarter Platz That You Should Know

Madagascar vanilla and black sesame at Berlin Homemade Ice Cream

In Schöneberger Akazienkiez there are several ice cream parlors that we visit regularly in summer, one of which is Berlin Homemade Icecream . The small shop scores with real taste, high quality and delicious varieties such as pear sorbet, black sesame and Madagascar vanilla. There are no aromatic pastes in the ice cream, only real fruits and homemade creams. You are not allowed to try your way through the varieties before ordering and I would not ask for sprinkles either. The owners certainly don’t get the price for the friendliest service, but the ice cream tastes fantastic and is worth a trip to Schöneberg.

Sip ice cream at Franken & Grunewald

Cups instead of balls: At Franken & Grunewald in Schöneberg, instead of individual balls, you can also sniff delicious cups. It’s not fancy, but that has never bothered the spaghetti ice cream, the tiramisu or the chocolate cup earlier than it does today. And let’s be honest, is there anything better than frozen cream in an ice cream sundae? Just.

Delicious ice cream from our own production at Eisfee

In the case of the ice fairy, only what goes on the small sign at the end goes into the ice. Organic milk, real fruits or Sicilian pistachios, but no additives or flavor enhancers. As in Italy, the ice cream is poured into the waffle or mug with a spatula. The Eisfee is now available four times in Berlin: in Schöneberg, Friedenau, Steglitz and Tempelhof.

Peruvian specialties and ice cream in Esmeralda’s Inca Café

Lucuma ice cream, Peruvian chocolate and Chicha Morada ice cream are just three types that Esmeralda Madlonado offers in her Inca Café . Her predecessor, Gerhard Eilers, who also comes from Lima, relied on Peruvian specialties – both savory and sweet. The café in Schöneberger Akazienkiez has breakfast, empanadas, ice cream, hot dishes and damn good piscos.

Lemon and cinnamon ice cream with vanilla & apricot

Those who love Vanille & Apricot ice cream are in luck, because there are five ice cream parlors in Berlin and one in Potsdam. Everything homemade, everything delicious. With varieties such as peanuts with home-baked brownies or lemon-cinnamon, you are always looking forward to the next lick.

Delicious ice cream (without egg) lick Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream

“Ice cream is the perfect combination of good food, friends and enjoyment,” says Sabine. In 2014, after a while in London, the Berliner opened her ice cream parlor Henrys in Steglitz. Here she offers homemade ice cream. Organic milk and cream, real fruits and brownies, biscuits and the like from our own production are processed. Eggs are not used in ice cream production and the sugar content is also kept as low as possible. In addition to (vegan) sorbets, there are also vegan varieties such as almond and chocolate ice cream.

Coffee, cake and ice cream in the Nunzio CLOSED

This small, great and extremely popular cafe is only a stone’s throw away from Schloßstraße in Steglitz. The Nunzio places a lot of emphasis on quality and friendliness, just as we like it. As far as possible, the products are regional and seasonal, often even directly from Berlin. In summer you can cool off with a scoop of ice cream, if you can leave it with a scoop, and tempting cake creations take center stage in the colder months. Try the salty caramel ice cream, the cheesecake or the banana bread!

Peach prosecco ice cream and stracciatella with Lauter ice cream

At Lauter Eis in Steglitz, in addition to classics such as chocolate, stracciatella and strawberry, you can also get more unusual types of ice cream such as saffron, vanilla balsamic vinegar or peach prosecco. In total, the offer includes over 80 different types of ice cream, including milk ice cream and vegan sorbets. The types of ice cream change depending on the season. In autumn come quince, cinnamon, in summer rhubarb or gooseberry.

Award-winning vanilla ice cream and DIY cups at IceGuerilla

At IceGuerilla you have the choice between a mug, a black waffle and a homemade pop waffle, the latter being more of a meal than a small snack. EisGuerilla comes from Beeskow, the homemade ice cream can also be bought in the online shop and in 2012 the vanilla ice cream was voted the best vanilla ice cream in Germany. In the small shop on Schloßstraße you can order varieties such as caramel cream puffs, mango, crepe ice cream or aperol spritz. There are also various toppings and sauces. Most of the ice cream production uses organic products and ingredients from the region.

Gluten-free bakery-pastry shop Eiscafe Voh

If you have gluten on your black list, you should write the gluten-free bakery-pastry shop Voh in the address book. The Friedenau opponents of gluten have been regular guests here since 2011 and stock up on cakes, bread and ice cream. So if you yourself are always looking for the GF in the menu or if you visit one of your “Zölli” friends again, go to Friedenau and make him happy with a delicious piece of cake without any grain.

11 Cafes, Restaurants And Bars On Stuttgarter Platz That You Should Know

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

The Stuttgarter Platz, in short Stutti, is located in the middle of Charlottenburg and is a nice piece of earth. The world is still fine here. Children play in the playground, the terraces of the restaurants and cafés are well frequented and most of the houses are Berlin dreams of old buildings. The restaurants have been right on the square for decades, but there is also a lot to discover in the surrounding streets. Here are our 11 tips for Stuttgarter Platz.

11 Cafes, Restaurants And Bars On Stuttgarter Platz That You Should Know

Dinner like in Paris in the Brasserie Lamazère

At the Stuttgarter Platz in Charlottenburg, the Brasserie Lamazère is like eating in Paris. Owner Régis Lamazère wanted a real French restaurant with unadulterated traditional dishes and a good wine list, that was his dream. Only the best ingredients are used here and attention is paid to detail, especially when it comes to the supposed little things. The decor is calm and “simple and traditional”, as the boss wanted it to be. The 3-course menu is available for 38 euros and you should definitely have the rice pudding with salted caramel for dessert.

11 Beautiful Restaurants And Cafes That You Should Know About On Wiener Straße

Have breakfast and cake at Doppio Pazzo

Right around the corner from Stuttgarter Platz, the Doppio Pazzo tempts you with delicious coffee, cake and a small but fine breakfast menu. The café is owned by two sisters and they make sure that every guest feels right at home. Rather untypical for Charlottenburg cafés, there are also many sweet vegan options, gluten-free bread and cakes. During the week you can have breakfast here until 2 p.m. or fortify yourself with the “Vitaminen Heroes” for the walk to Charlottenburg Palace. Make sure to leave space for cake, it’s homemade and really tasty.

Fine drinks in the Galander Charlottenburg

In the Galander , mixing fine drinks is elevated to an art. Both classics and unusual cocktail creations are conjured up here using only the best spirits. And if you don’t know what to choose, you can always take advantage of personal, highly competent cocktail advice from the friendly Galander team – enjoyment without regrets guaranteed!

South Tyrolean flair in the AltoAdige in Charlottenburg

The concept of the AltoAdige is not yet known in Berlin: In the day bar (!) Everything revolves around South Tyrol, Italian flair and a cultivated drinking culture. Not only do a good selection of wines and the best cheese give you that little holiday feeling, every Friday evening everything is dedicated to the aperitivo. You can help yourself to the alcoholic drink at the delicious buffet and start the weekend perfectly.

Feast and buy Italian delicacies in the Salumera da Pino

The Salumera da Pino is a gourmet paradise when it comes to Italian cheese, sausage, pastries and Co. The store on Stuttgarter Platz is Berlin’s first delicatessen and opened in 1985. Since then, neighbors, Berliners and native Italians have been coming here, shopping for home, indulging in an antipasti or pasta plate for lunch or making a cozy aperitivo. Those who are thirsty can choose between almost 2000 wines.

Eating homemade organic pasta at the brother heart

In their Bruderherz restaurant , the two brothers Tomasz and Michal Sokolowski have made it their business to serve “timeless Italian cuisine”. One brother takes care of the guests while the other cooks. Among other things, Tomasz learned in the Black Raven and on his travels through Sicily. The menu includes classics such as carpaccio and spaghetti with black truffle and parmesan, but also more unusual creations such as grilled octopus with chickpea puree and avocado and spaghetti with king prawns, sugar snap peas and vanilla.

For an aperitivo in the Insonne Bar at the Stutti

In this café, which turns into a bar in the evening, you can soak up the infamous “dolce vita” lifestyle. Whether a coffee, the wine or the cornetti, everything here comes from Italy. And if you want to celebrate bigger and longer, the Insonne team will also organize your party. Well then “cin cin”!

Ice cream, frozen yoghurt & waffles snack in Moono Frozen Yoghurt and Bubble Tea

A vacation in LA inspired Dandan Wu to open her first frozen yoghurt shop Yobarca in Berlin-Friedrichshain in 2010 . Two more stores followed in Charlottenburg and Steglitz. From Yobarca was  Moono and in the shops you get in addition to delicious frozen yoghurt in its recipe and homemade ice cream, bubble tea and waffles. We like to eat FrYo here with hazelnut cream, brownies, raspberries and brittle.

Sicilian cuisine in Focaccino – Sicilia in Bocca

At the Stutti you can escape to Sicily for an evening with dinner in the focaccino . At the Italian restaurant with white and red furnishings, you can get Sicilian specialties such as pasta carbonara with Sicilian salciccia, breaded veal schnitzel alla Siciliana and cannoli. There is even gluten-free pasta. There used in Focaccino , as the name suggests, primarily focaccia.

Down-to-earth, tasty burgers at Windburger

At Windburger in Charlottenburg you can get delicious burgers in different sizes. The bread rolls are homemade, the patties are made from fresh beef and next to the burger there is a selection of fries. Those who are not red meat can choose between three chicken burgers and vegetarians and vegans also have three burgers to choose from, for example with halloumi or tofu.

Mini pizza on hand at Alano Pizza

If you walk along the Stutti, you will see at least two people with Alano’s mini-pizza in their hands. Many people get the pizza with salami, mushrooms and peppers for 1.50 euros and go to the playground with their kids, others spend their lunch break in front of the little house and still others grab something for the way home. One  thing is certain: there is always something going on at Alano Pizza and the mini pizza has tasted good for years. For those who like it spicy: There are three different hot chilli sauces and oil with garlic.

11 Beautiful Restaurants And Cafes That You Should Know About On Wiener Straße

July 15, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

Bars, cafes and restaurants line up on the right and Görlitzer Park on the other side. And there we are with our problem child, because although there is a lot going on here from Brazilian to Korean culinary, Wiener Straße has a little image problem due to its proximity to Görli. To get rid of it soon, we have selected 11 stores that you should definitely test out.

11 Beautiful Restaurants And Cafes That You Should Know About On Wiener Straße

Delicious Manakish and other Arabic baked goods in the Maschari Café

There are numerous Turkish shops on the ground floor of the Omar-Ibn-Al-Khattab Mosque. One of them is the small but fine Maschari Café , where you can get cheap organic coffee and delicious Arabic baked goods. It is one of the few places that serve delicious Manakish, a variant of Arabic pizza with thyme, cheese or minced meat.

11 Cozy Cafes And Restaurants For The Cold Season

Falafel, Haloumi and delicious peanut sauce in Khartoum

Peanut instead of garlic sauce: even if the kebab was the ultimate midnight snack in Berlin after partying, it has been replaced by its Sudanese counterpart for some time. Here, falafel, haloumi, chicken and makali (fried vegetables) as well as lettuce and incredibly delicious sauces, namely vegan eggplant paste, mango sauce and fabulous peanut sauce, find their way into the flatbread.

Swabian comfy food directly in Kreuzberg in the Spätzle Express.

You can say what you want about the Swabians, but there is one thing they are really good at and that is hearty comfy food. Regardless of whether it’s Schupfnudeln, Maultaschen or (cheese) spaetzle, we love them all. At the Spätzle Express in Kreuzberg you can try out the entire Swabian cuisine. Our favorite is and remains the classic: Käsespätzle. An important service note for those who easily fall into a food coma: You can take all dishes home with you and eat them on the couch.

Traditional Brazilian cuisine in Café Mori

Brazilian food is not yet on the food radar for most people. Wrongly, as the Café Mori in Kreuzberg shows, because the traditional Brazilian dishes, which are mostly based on rice and beans and are offered both vegan and carnivorous, are really tasty. There are also soups and cakes, as well as a large portion of Brazilian charm and music, of course, and so it is clear that you will have a wonderful evening in the nice café. Oh, caipis are of course also on the menu here.

Burritos and margaritas in the chaparro

The hip Chaparro is just a stone’s throw from Görlitzer Park . At lunchtime, the burrito-hungry startup people from the area cavort here, so they can wait a little longer for a good lunch. In the Chaparro you can also cheer yourself up at any time of the day with classic margaritas (Monday – Friday until 6 p.m.: Happy Hour 2 for one), which is also available in the menu. If you’re not hungry for tacos, there are also very tasty tortas here: homemade bread topped with mashed beans, avocado, onions and salsa. In the Chaparro you can also get all dishes vegan. For dessert we also recommend Horchata – rice-cinnamon-water, which is refreshing and provides the necessary sugar afternoon kick.

Foosball and drinking in the Weisses Taube

This is exactly how you imagine a Kreuzberg soccer bar. There is football, smoking, scolding and partying. There is a large screen and a flat screen above the bar so that not a second is missed when ordering a beer. When the game is not so exciting, you can enjoy the huge aquarium, where, in addition to real living fish, a human skeleton feasts on a beer crate. Gorgeous!

Delicious Vietnamese (vegan) curries and udon noodles at Huong Quê Restaurant

If a kitchen benefits from the vegan trend, then it is probably the Vietnamese one, because here a vegan diet is sometimes even part of the tradition. This means that many curries and pasta dishes are vegan even without major changes. In  Huong Quê,  which you can find one on Bergmannstrasse and one on Wiener Strasse, you can not only eat vegan, but also carnivorous and that is pretty good. Our favorites are the vegan curry with tofu and flat rice noodles and the steamed udon noodles!

Asian cuisine with western influences at Little Long

In Little Long in Kreuzberg two worlds collide: the culinary world of Asia on Hip Hop legends of the Western music world. If you like it classic, you can order sushi and ramen. For those who like to mix and share, we recommend the izakaya. It gets fiery at the Konro Grill (in summer) and Shabu Shabu (in winter). There is an extra lunch menu at lunchtime. Our tip: The Udon Carbonara, for those who like it unusual.

Korean BBQ at Mmaah in Kreuzberg

The  Mmaah sold Korean BBQ and makes for some time “Aaah” with its three branches in the Columbia Dam and Kiehlufer in Neukölln, and in the west at Nollendorfplatz. Since August 2018 there is now a branch in Kreuzberg on Wiener Straße. The menu includes Bulgogi BBQ, marinated beef on rice and salad, or Mandu, Korean dumplings with a vegetable and glass noodle filling. Noms. One of the Mmaah branches is sure to deliver to your home.

Live music and delicious beer at Radler’s

At Radler’s , the name says it all . Well, at least a little, because you can also drink shandy here, but above all, fabulous beer without any soda. You can also regularly listen to live music here, occasionally watch sports and meet up with (many) friends. And if you don’t have a beer buddy, the bartenders are also very relaxed people.

Dumplings from rescued foods at DingsDums in Kreuzberg

We like dumplings and try to live more sustainably in everyday life. It goes without saying that we really like the things, as the dumplings are called at  DingsDums . The small shop at Görlitzer Park fills its dumplings with rescued food that would otherwise have wandered off the supermarket shelf straight into the bin. The dumplings come in a wide variety of shapes and colors and with fillings that you have never tried before. We only say Nuremberg bratwurst with sauerkraut on wasabi cream or smoked mozzarella on (vegetarian) Bolognese. Since the Corona crisis, Dings Dums Dumplings has only switched to (free) delivery. You can order the dumplings in the online shop, delivery is between 7pm and 9pm.

11 Cozy Cafes And Restaurants For The Cold Season

July 14, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

We are already looking forward to winter and hope that we will still see snow this year. What else do we particularly like about the cold season? That when it gets icy cold outside and the wind blows around your ears, you can retreat to cozy cafés and restaurants. Old sofas, open fires, cuddly pillows and warm light – in these 11 cozy cafés and restaurants you can not only warm up, but also eat and drink deliciously on top of that.

11 Cozy Cafes And Restaurants For The Cold Season

Hear fairy tales in the Tajik tea room

You can experience fairytale tea hours near the Monbijoupark. From 6 p.m. on Mondays, cheerful to creepy Russian fairy tales are served for tea there. The traditional green tea is prepared strictly according to regulations and individually according to the guest, which of course takes a while. So here, too, the following applies: slow down, hang stress on the coat hook and just warm up until the delicious tea comes. Then you can go for a walk in Monbijoupark.

11 Really Good Restaurants In Charlottenburg That Always Go

Have breakfast and drink coffee at Annelies in Kreuzberg

We still cry after the fluffy pancakes in the Coffee district in Mitte, but the rest of the breakfast is also damn tasty. But now there is again reason to be happy: The sister café Annelies has opened directly at Görlitzer Park. Here you can have breakfast, lunch, coffee and wine for an aperitivo in the evening sun. The menu includes fluffy pancakes, fried chicken sandwiches, granola with beetroot and blueberries, and hearty options – all regional and seasonal.

Japanese-European fusion cuisine in the House of Small Wonder

The House of Small Wonder is, as the name suggests, a small wonder world directly from busy Friedrichstrasse. Everything here inspires: the Japanese-European fusion cuisine, the green coffees, the design, the staff. Just order everything from the breakfast menu and come back in the evening for Japanese comfort food.

Truffle pasta, pizza and dolce vita in the Ribaltone

The Ribaltone on Viktoria-Luise-Platz in Schöneberg is both a  hotspot and an insider tip. Without a reservation, nothing works in the cozy and crowded Osteria, but many Berliners and tourists do not know the Italian restaurant. Northern Italian dishes, pizza and antipasti are served. We recommend the specials from the day pass, which change depending on the season and season. The spaghetti with truffle from the parmesan loaf and the calamari on lukewarm lentil salad are particularly good.

Eat spelled crumble cake in the 1900 Café Bistro

The 1900 Café  has long been one of our Charlottenburg favorites. In addition to the down-to-earth home cooking and the rustic atmosphere, we prefer to come here for the delicious cakes. The spelled crumble cakes are simply heavenly and just the thing at any time of the day or year. The pieces are almost too big for the plate, the crumbles are nice and thick and anything but dry and if you like, you can also get a decent portion of homemade whipped cream with the cake.

Eating ramen at Cocolo Ramen X-Berg

Of course, the small Kuchi empire in Berlin is no longer an insider tip, but that doesn’t change the fact that the ramen in Cocolo are simply amazingly delicious. In summer 2019 the restaurant moved from Paul-Lincke-Ufer to Graefestrasse. There is more space in the new location, otherwise everything has stayed the same. The food is served in beautiful clay bowls, as is well known, the eyes eat with them. If Kreuzberg is too far for you, you can also munch on Cocolo Ramen at Gipsstraße 3 in Mitte .

Fulfill your chocolate dreams at Winterfeldt Schokoladen

Where medicines and pain relievers were once stored and sold, the finest chocolates are now sold. The fact that cocoa and chocolate cheer up the mind is nothing new and here, too, in the listed pharmacy from the early days, our happiness hormones go crazy while snacking. We warm up with hot chocolate, coffee, cake and cocoa-laden delicacies and recharge our batteries for a stroll through the neighborhood or a stroll through the market.

Pizza and Bavarian specialties eat in the café on the new lake

The café on the new lake has long ceased to be an insider tip – but it is still a good one. Take a tour of the zoo and then sit down in the beer garden. Regardless of whether it is for a lunchtime beer or in the evening hours: Here you will definitely feel a sense of anticipation for summer tingling your back. Share one of the large and crispy stone oven pizzas with friends or order meat loaf with pretzels. Also great: You can rent a rowboat here. Romantic!

Pancakes, chicken waffles and Bloody Marys with spirit in the glass

Das Geist im Glas is actually a cozy bar where you can get excellent drinks and, in winter, mulled wine. At the weekend, the bar opens its doors from lunchtime, then there’s brunch! We’re totally crazy about the food-porn-obsessed buttermilk pancakes with bananas, dulce de leche cream and bourbon maple syrup. Also on the menu: Chicken Waffles, Huevos Rancheros and other messes. If you come with a hangover, you can “retox” with Asian-influenced Bloody Marys or vodka with a light coffee flavor. That’s how it is done!

Cozy shared flat atmosphere in the Mano Café

In Mano café in Kreuzberg is all made of wood – walls and counter paneled raw and wooden benches complement the furniture that seems to greet one of a 90s-WG municipalities. Velvet curtains and branches with oriental lanterns do their part to create a cozy atmosphere here. It’s a wonderful place to hide in familiar corners to sip hot chocolate and read a book in peace, and the evenings can be long here thanks to the large selection of beers, wines and long drinks.

First dates in the cozy living room atmosphere in the attic

The attic is cozy, relaxed and has a lot of living room atmosphere: the small bar extends over two floors and is furnished upstairs like an apartment with several rooms. According to an internal source, this makes it great for first dates. In addition to delicious homemade lemonade (blueberry sage!), The drinks are of course first class – unfortunately you only have to go back to your own apartment to sleep.

11 Really Good Restaurants In Charlottenburg That Always Go

July 14, 2021 by Dorothy Fernandes Leave a Comment

For some time now, Charlottenburg has been developing into an absolute culinary hotspot far away from Ku’damm, around Kantstrasse, Stuttgarter Platz and Knesebeckstrasse. Duc Ngo sets the tone in Charlottenburg with the Ryotei 893, of course, Madame Ngo and the Ngokimpak, of course, but you can also get incredibly good pasta at Mine / Wine and Schnitzel in the Schnitzelei. For those who are hungry in Charlottenburg, we have 11 classics that always go.

11 Really Good Restaurants In Charlottenburg That Always Go

Asian street food, ramen and more at Ngokimpak

The Ngokimpak is the newest restaurant in the large and thoroughly delicious portfolio of Dug Ngo. Where until recently he served vegan and vegetarian bowls (TOKI), ramen, bibimbap, bao buns and deep-fried foods are now available. The Ngokimpak  is colorful, loud and playful and brings the street food flair of Asia to Charlottenburg.

Israeli Cuisine, Aperitivo And Cakes In The Kitten Deli In Neukolln

French cuisine at Le Petit Royal

Grill Royal, Pauly Saal, Dóttir and now: Le Petit Royal . Stephan Landwehr, Boris Radczun and Moritz Estermann have opened their fourth restaurant with around 50 seats in Charlottenburg. Here, too, it’s decadent to et très francais. The Grill Royal classics meet French cuisine. The menu includes freshly caught fish from the Baltic Sea, oysters, but also modern French classics such as bouillabaisse or coq au vin. Et voila!

Schnitzel, goose and Kaiserschmarrn at Lutter & Wegner since 1811

Those who like schnitzel will love the Lutter & Wegner in Charlottenburg. The restaurant is a real institution and serves good German cuisine. We can’t even say what we like to eat here. Veal schnitzel, Christmas goose or the caramelized Kaiserschmarrn? Preferably all three. Don’t be put off by the white tablecloths and the rather high average age.

Madame Ngo conjures Pho on the table

Madame Ngo conjures up pretty tasty phos for you every day. In addition to the obligatory ingredients such as rice noodles, onions, coriander and – of course – broth, you can choose between quite a few different types of meat. Whether chicken, pork or beef, fillet, steak or balls, the choice is huge. The soups are not cheap, but good meat has its price. Unfortunately, there are not many vegetarian and vegan alternatives – one, to be precise.

Sharing is Caring at 893 Ryōtei

There is no other restaurant on Kantstrasse that fits the phrase “outside ugh, inside hui” better than 893 Ryōtei . Where there used to be a Schlecker branch, today people eat in the dim light in front of the open kitchen. The finest meat and fish, the interior perfectly styled and the atmosphere relaxed and cool. The sashimi salad deserves a 1+ with an asterisk and the portions are perfect for sharing. So here too: sharing is caring. By the way, behind the chic shed is the god of gastronomy, who has already given you, among other things, the Kuchi , Madame Ngo (both just a stone’s throw away) and the Cocolo Ramen in Kreuzberg.

French cuisine in the Paris bar

The Paris Bar is actually not a bar, but a French restaurant, where the food is more in the background. This institution is all about seeing and being seen. Celebrities (from A to Z celebrities) and artists from all over the world shake hands here. The walls are full of paintings, which gives the whole thing a gallery atmosphere. It can also happen that one of the painters is the guy at the bar, dressed in black and puffing a cigar. It may sound frighteningly arrogant, but it is an absolute classic in Berlin and definitely worth a visit. Oh yes, and the food is delicious too. French fries, thin, crispy – and everyone is happy!

Authentic Asian cuisine at Lon Men’s Noodle House

If you are into authentic Asian cuisine, you can’t avoid Lon Men’s on Kantstrasse in Berlin . A real Taiwanese original is hidden behind a simple exterior. Particularly recommended: the various noodle soups and the dim sum.

Modern interpretation of French cuisine from Tim Raue Brasserie Colette

The Brasserie Colette is one of our editors’ favorites. The furnishings are reminiscent of a small French bistro, and no sooner have you sat down than bread and a jar full of pickles are on the table, which are so delicious that our colleague Maxi would love to have them at home. You should definitely take the artichoke as a starter. For the main course we prefer to eat the tuna or the steak fries and, last but not least, we treat ourselves to the caramel candies. The restaurant is a bit more expensive, but you can also treat yourself to something.

Hearty home cooking and bar flair in the Diener Tattersall

The  Diener Tattersall has been around for more than 100 years, which is why the restaurant with pub flair is a Berlin institution. The dark walls are full of old photos of celebrity regulars and friends of the house. The down-to-earth, home-style cooking in the servant is served including a Berliner Schnauze – exactly as you imagine it. Our favorites are the eggs in mustard sauce, the Wiener Schnitzel and the Klopse. Add a beer and a chat with Barbara, the owner, and you forget that superfoods and bowls dominate the Berlin food scene.

Schnitzel and German tapas in the Schnitzelei

Probably the best schnitzel in Berlin can be found in the Schnitzelei . There is also a large selection of German tapas and, on top of that, a welcome beer on the house for every guest. When the weather is nice, the various delicacies can of course also be enjoyed on the spacious terrace.
