I like shopping at Food Lion because the employees are nice and the receipts are normally correct, etc. I shop mostly in Claymont, DE. However, there is an occasional guard at the entrance lobby of the store which is good, but there should be surveillance or extra help to chase the panhandlers that beg out front and little boys who steal your merchandise when they go to help you with your groceries. I know, at times, the kind employees will ask if you need help unloading your groceries into your vehicle outside, but I usually can handle them myself. This one little boy, age around 10-12, came right up and grabbed my groceries to put in the back of my pickup truck on July 13, around 4 pm. At first I thought he was being nice. I gave him $1 for helping and he asked me for another dollar after I gave him one, but I told him “no” I appreciated his help. He said that he would put up my tailgate for me, and when he did, he ran off with my gallon of milk. I heard that he frequents the other stores and nearby gas station and always asks for money from people. I need to be more diligent in my surroundings and refuse help unless it is a store employee. I did contact “Crime Stoppers” in Delaware about this incident and other local stores where I shop to tell them about panhandlers and how all this makes me feel uncomfortable shopping in Claymont.

Lion product for the past few weeks that hasn’t been available on the shelves. Again this week it wasn’t available so I approached a young FL employee stocking the shelves (Donavan) and asked him about the product. Although he was clearly VERY busy unpacking a cart full of boxes and loading the shelves, he stopped what he was doing and went to the back of the store to diligently look for the product I wanted. He returned a few minutes later and explained why they did not have the product. I was very impressed with the young man’s willingness to assist me and the fact that he took the time to explain why the product wasn’t available! He is just one example of the wonderful employees in our Food Lion store!
Sharing a Funny experience: I am 80 years old and wanted a “panache” which is 1/2 beer 1/2 seven up. So I went to my favor store Food Lion and bought a – Odul nonalcoolic – beer. When time to pay – the over 40 cashier asked me my ID card and birthday. I politely said thank you for asking (I must be looking younger than 18- joke!) no she insisted to get my ID card – he supervisor verified my card- ha! surprisingly, I asked the ABC store their requirements. No need for an ID card for purchase a hard liquor unless you are 18. Next time I will try WallMart just to compare. I will be
insulted if they do not ask my age. Good joke for today.

I’ve been transferring back to Food Lion from Kroger. Kroger is fine, it’s just the people suck. Anyway, my last two visits to Food Lion have been less than impressive. First, the young lady checking me out forgot to put one of my items in my bag and I had to return and ask for my batteries. The young lady tried to act like I forgot them saying “I left them there” which was untrue. The next visit I tried to use a 5 dollar coupon but the same young lady looked like she was having trouble entering it, but never asked for help, although the manager walked by twice while this was going on. She ended up giving me a 1 dollar discount, but as I was leaving I looked at the receipt and noticed that the coupon wasn’t taken off. I then returned to the manager and got it taken care of, and she was very capable. This young lady at the check out may need a little more training. Also, she’s not very pleasant.

I normally have no problem with Food Lion but today the check out clerk was as rude as I’ve ever seen. He flipped out when my order got to him because the lady in front of me had not paid yet. He SHOVED my order back, knocking items over and slammed down the order bar. He wasn’t finished. As I was still putting items on the belt, he kept shoving my food back. When I stood there and looked at him, he wouldn’t even look at me. I know people can be testy since covid but his attitude was totally out of line. If I shop at that store again and see him checking people out, I’ll probably leave my basket and walk out. I have always liked the store in my neighborhood and not had a problem until today. I hope someone does something about this rude person.

Store has merchandise re-arranged since former BiLo was there. Employees helped me locate almost all of the items on my lists. Only items I could not find were: Pepsodent Tooth Paste and Swanson’s Chicken a la King. Prices reasonable. Store clean and well kept. Cashier asked if I had a loyalty card and I explained I had never shopped in this store since Food Lion took operation. I will return now that I have orientation completed.

I bought a ” Manager’s Special” but when I got it home it was disgusting. It had already gone bad. I brought it back to the store the next day and was told I could not get a refund because I didn’t have my receipt. that I had to get an exchange. Well all of the product had the same date so I really didn’t want to chance it. I ended up getting two of a smaller size of the same product that had also been reduced. My question is , when did Food Lion stop guaranteeing freshneass and their double your money back guarantee? I spent 50 bucks and got treated like I had done something wrong although everyone involve here was very nice. And I didn’t even want double my money back, just a refund on some disgusting product.
I have been shopping at the Food Line store here in Albany, GA (Store 2820) ever since it opened in March. I never received my card (5 attempts) therefore each time I must tell the checkout clerk my telephone and for every other person to hear. Also never able to register
to obtain points although as of today, I have saved $478.52 in savings, do not have a smart phone and unable to take advantage of digital coupon in store savings. The coporate office never answers my e-mails, etc However, I continue to buy every week anyway because of the values.
I use to live in Denver, N.C. and shopped at Food town. I was sad to see our local Bilo close, but now am learning the layout of Food Lion and shopping there. It is very neat and clean.
It’s hard to believe that I’m reading great comments from other stores customers. Not here at our Food Lion. It must be the only one where the bag boys will run the other way when they see a cart coming to check-out. I was there the other day and litterly there were 4-5 guys up by the registers laughing and playing around. Once they saw me, they ran. How can you do that to an elderly person? They will NOT take your groceries out, again they run to the back. It might cost me a little more to shop Publix but it is well worth it because they even take your groceries out of your cart and put them on the mat and then they go bag groceries and always, ALWAYS carry your groceries out to your car, no matter if it is one bag or two. FOOD LION is NOT for the elderly for sure. You have sorry $SS workers. Especially the bag boys. And then when I tried to do the survey, I got this tag that it was actually PUBLISHERS CLEARING HOUSE. .just how much do ya’ll get from them to promote them? The last 2 times I have been to this Food Lion the person checking me out never spoke to me. I bought a lot of groceries the second time and he bagged them left them on counter never spoke and walked away. I had to load on cart myself. However, the guy in the meat department was very friendly and helpful.

I feel comfortable whenever I go shopping to Food Lion store #2197 in Clayton. Never encountered any problem at all, staff is always walking that extra mile to assist with questions, even going inside looking for something is not on display, verify if available and apologize if out of stock at that moment, letting me know when the truck is coming with the merchandise. My only “complain”; not really, was that I rendered coupons you sent me and the young man at the cashier was kind of embarrassed because there were more costumers behind and he had difficulties to scan the coupons,resulting in not scanning one I got for free ;Greek Yogurt 4.29 + tax =4.38. I realized he was in a rush. I noticed his error when I checked at home. Unfortunately this happened to me before but it was just for a small amount.This time I called and talked to the manager Mr. Navil, who said to pass by to fix the problem,which I did two days after and got the credit in my Credit card. Please tell your cashiers not to feel in a hurry when scanning, every body has to wait patiently,some people buy more than others. I plan to use the self service next time and cooperate to avoid this kind of errors.

I really like my Food Lion in Ashland, Virginia. I have been going there for years. The employees are very nice. They will ask if you need help in finding anything. Most of the cashiers place my groceries in the basket for me after they are bagged. They will ask how heavy I want the groceries bagged since I am an elderly woman.
I just moved here from Massachusetts, and I was blown away with how. Cashier Katie treated me and the service you did, so sweet and did here job above and beyond. I live in Chilhowie,VA and we’ve got a Food City grocery store, but there’s a Food Lion in the next town over(Marion, VA), only 20 miles from my home. Every time I go grocery shopping I drive to Food Lion. It’s cheaper than Food City, cleaner, it’s employees are so much friendlier, and our Food Lion has always got everything I’m looking for. Even during the pandemic they didn’t experience any major shortages. And I buy Food Lion products on many items because they’re every bit as good as the name brand. I live in a small town with less than 3,000 people. Food Lion is the only real grocery store in town. All of the “dollar” stores have some items that are stocked in FL. Store 1081 Covington Va is a very clean store. Shelves are always stocked and if you need help you can actually find someone to help you. Ashley always is very friendly at check out and ask how are you doing. Manager has always been nice and helpful. Meat department is always full and if you need something there they will help you. I shop at food Lion all the time. Should I need a few items or more, this is my turn to place. There have been a few times that I’ve had issues there but nothing to bad. The only thing that irks me about food lion is that they’ll have only 2 checkout lanes open with looooong lines. I’ve seen somebody with only items, wait 15+ minutes to checkout.
