The Italians simply have what it takes. Pizza, pasta, espresso, gelato. Many of my favorite foods come from Bella Italia. If I’m still a bit tired on a hot summer day – with the temperatures you can’t sleep well at night either ( here are tips on how it might work after all ) – then I prefer to order an Affogato. Never heard? Affogato is a shot (or two) of espresso with a scoop of gelato in it. I prefer to have a scoop of vanilla, gianduja or hazelnut ice cream. Depending on the café or ice cream parlor, you can also choose the ice cream yourself. Here are our 11 tips for Affogato in Berlin.
Fantastic, Italian (vegan) ice cream licking at Duo Sicilian Ice Cream
Suppose there is one thing that we love about vacationing in Italy. In that case, it is the spatula-filled ice cream, which is why we are so happy that there are a few ice cream parlors in Berlin that defy the ice cream scoops and put the creamy ice cream on the waffle, like Duo Sicilian Ice Cream in Kreuzberg. The ice cream here is wonderfully creamy, not too sweet and even the vegan ice cream is almost too creamy to be true. You can choose from different sizes, where S is one type and M is two types. Our favorite varieties are dark chocolate and hazelnut.

Float in pizza heaven at Sironi La Pizza
We have been looking forward to the opening day of Sironi La Pizza for a long time. The pizzeria has finally been open since the end of February 2020 and with it a piece of Italy is moving to Goltzstraße. The focus here is of course on the pizza! However, they didn’t want to commit themselves to one type, which is why they have the extra crispy Pala Romana, which is square (like over there in the bakery), round pizzas made from wheat dough and pizza made from 100% spelled dough. In addition to classic Italian starters such as burrata and farinata, there are also heavenly desserts – the ice cream is homemade and drinks. The Sironi La Pizza also has a cocktail bar.

The homemade waffles include delicious varieties such as popcorn, green apple, berry sorbet or liquorice. The ice cream comes from her parents’ factory. Our highlight: the vegan spaghetti ice cream and the sundae. The creation changes weekly. Also good and really tasty: espresso with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

It is no longer a secret that we fell in love with Rosa Canina’s boys and girls . Whether in the branches in Prenzlauer Berg or at the permanent stand in Markthalle Neun or in the small ice cream parlor in Mitte, we simply cannot do without their fabulous ice cream, where all ingredients are organic and without additional flavorings.
